Letzten Montag ging nun unsere Software in den Produktionsbetrieb und wird nun von den Benutzern in der täglichen Arbeit eingesetzt.
Ein kurzes Fazit:
- Seit Montag habe ich meinen Arbeitsplatz vom Projektbüro ins Büro unserer Benutzer verlegt.
Einfach um vor Ort zu sein und Dinge zu erklären bzw. Probleme aufzunehmen. - Die meisten Nachfragen kamen zur Funktionsweise des Programms. Das Training dazu ist nun schon 6 oder 7 Wochen her und die Benutzer haben den Großteil vergessen :P.
- Darüber hinaus gab es dann noch einige kleinere Fehler in unseren Komponenten sowie Erweiterungswünsche der Benutzer. Das ist nun das, woran ich aktuell arbeite.
- Und zusätzlich ist ein aktueller Diskussionspunkt die Performance des Systems. Manche Funktionen des Systems sind dann zugegebenermaßen verdammt langsam :-(.
Das betrifft aber dann Produktfunktionen und aktuell wird das Problem bei Siemens analysiert, wie wir den Benutzern ein schnelleres System bereitstellen können. - Neben bei gibt es dann noch ein generelles Problem mit der Software in der Kundenumgebung.
Im Entwicklungsbereich wird dieselbe Anwendung (mit abweichender Konfiguration) eingesetzt. Wird dort die Anwendung vom Benutzer beendet, kann es vorkommen dass dadurch das System für neue Benutzer komplett geblockt wird. Und für meine Anwender ist beim Auftreten des Problems kein Arbeiten mehr möglich, bis ein Prozess in der Datenbank “abgeschossen” wird.
Das ist natürlich total unbefriedigend, da es u.a. am Freitag 4 Mal den ganzen Tag über auftritt.
Hier hoffe ich, dass der Kunde mal Druck auf HP und Siemens macht. Siemens behauptet, dass es an der Proton-Umgebung liegt und will daher keine Fehlerbehebung durchführen. Und HP beschränkt sich hier darauf zu sagen: “Wenn es auftritt, können wir das beheben”. Aber eine endgültige Lösung ist nicht in Aussicht :-(.

Last Monday, our software went into production and is since then used by the users for their daily work.
Here a short feedback about the experience since then:
- On Monday, I moved my workplace to the office of the department of our users.
Just to give them some guidance and take care of problems happening. - Most of the questions have been about how to use the system. As the training was already 6 or 7 weeks ago, the users forgot most of the things shown there :P.
- In addition, we had some errors in our customization and several enhancement requests. That’s now the stuff I’m working on.
- And the biggest problem is currently the performance of the system. It’s so slow that I understand all the complaints of the users :-(.
Luckily, this is not caused by our customization but the software itself. So, Siemens has now to analyze the problem and help us to increase the system performance. - And there’s also another issue of the Siemens Teamcenter software in the customer environment.
Within the development department, they’re using the same software but different configuration. When closing the application there by the user, it may happen that the system is blocked for all logins of other users. And “my” users are not able at all to use the software anymore.
Every time this happens, someone from HP has to connect to the database and kill some connections manually. That’s quite an issue as e.g. this happened 4 times last Friday :-(.
I’m hoping now, that the customer is putting some pressure on HP and Siemens. Siemens says it’s just related to the environment at Proton and due to that they’re not willing to solve the issue. And HP just says “if it happens, we just clear the lock”. But no one wants to provide a final solution till now :-(.
