Einige Tage nach der Feier zum Go-Live unserer Software vom Proton-Team, stand dann eine weitere Feier an. Dieses Mal ausgerichtet und bezahlt von HP Malaysia.
Hier ist es wohl speziell bei Projekten mit staatsnahen Unternehmen üblich, derartige Essen zu veranstalten. Und dabei wird dann auch nicht nur das Projektteam sondern eine Vielzahl an Leuten eingeladen.
Bei diesem Projekt waren das dann alle Super-User und Trainer des Kunden. Am Ende hatte die Liste mit den Einladungen so um die 75 Namen plus knapp 20 HPler.

So ging es dann an einem Donnerstag zu einem Mittagessen in das „Grand Dorsett“ Hotel um dort ein reichhaltiges Buffet zu genießen. Ich durfte vorher dann erst mal noch meinen HP-Kollegen den Weg zum Hotel beschreiben, da sich dieses nur wenige Minuten von meiner Wohnung entfernt befindet ;-).
Ich bin dann auch selbst gefahren und hab 4 Kolleginnen von Proton IT in meinem Auto mitgenommen. Wir sind dann auch als erste im Büro losgefahren und bei unserer Ankunft waren nur die für Proton verantwortliche Verkäuferin sowie die Chefin des HP-Geschäftsbereichs da.
So konnten wir uns dann die Plätze frei aussuchen und die ersten Runden am Buffet auch ohne allzu viel Gedränge hinter uns bringen.

Im Restaurant stand dann aber auch nur Essen und gemütliches Beisammensein auf dem Programm. Ich hatte zumindest mit einem kurzen Grußwort gerechnet, das war dann aber doch nicht geplant.
Das hatte dann aber den Vorteil, dass ich bei meinen unzähligen Wegen zum Buffet und dem Essen verschiedener Speisen nicht gestört wurde ;-). Das Essen in dem Hotel war wirklich sehr gut und vermutlich auch nicht allzu günstig.
Nach einer Weile waren wir dann alle fertig mit Essen und haben uns noch eine Weile unterhalten. Bis dann nach knapp 2,5 Stunden der Chef das Zeichen zum Aufbruch gegeben hat und wir gemütlich ins Büro zurückgefahren sind.
Auch wenn danach dann aufgrund des übervollen Magens nicht mehr die volle Arbeitsleistung möglich war :P.

A few days after the small Go-Live celebration by the Proton team, we had another celebration for the project. This time organized and paid by HP Malaysia.
Here in Malaysia, it’s common to go for lunch from time to time especially when dealing with government-linked companies. But this then does not only include the project team but many more people.
So, they put all super users, trainers and some more people on the list. And at the end the send out invitations to around 75 Proton people plus 20 from HP.

On a Thursday, we went for lunch to “Grand Dorsett” hotel to enjoy a rich buffet. Before leaving the office, I had to give some descriptions on the route to my colleagues as the hotel is just in walking distance of my apartment ;-).
I drove there myself and was playing driver for 4 women from Proton IT. We left the office as the first group and when we arrived in the hotel, only the client principal for Proton and the boss of the business unit have been there.
We could then freely choose our seats and also enjoy the first rounds at the buffet without being disturbed by other people.

In the restaurant, the only agenda was to enjoy the food and have some small-talk. I anticipated that there’s at least a small speech but that was not planned.
But that has the advantage that no one disturbed me on the numerous walks to the buffet and while eating so much of food ;-). The hotel there was really very good and I assume also not that cheap.
After a while we all finished with the food and just spoke with each other or took group pictures. We stayed there until the boss gave the sign to go back to the office after approximately 2.5 hours.
We drove then back to the office though the working performance was not the best anymore with the overfull stomach :P.
