Am Mittwoch habe ich einen Anruf des Autovermieters bekommen, dass das Auto, mit dem ich vor 2 Monaten einen Unfall hatte, mittlerweile wieder aus der Werkstatt gekommen ist und sie es gerne wieder gegen das Auto eintauschen möchte, dass ich übergangsweise bekommen habe. Warum sie es tauschen wollten, konnte mir auch keiner sagen. Ist genau dasselbe Modell, selbe Farbe, etc.
Am Freitag ging es dann nach der Arbeit zu einem Aussichtspunkt oberhalb von Kuala Lumpur gelegen. Dort traten dann gleich Probleme mit der Beschleunigung/Automatik auf. Den Berg kam man nur hoch, wenn man das Pedal voll durchdrückt.
Gestern ging es dann zu verschiedenen Aktivitäten, insgesamt so 300 – 350 Kilometer mit dem Auto für den Tag. Auf dem Rückweg legten wir dann einen Zwischenhalt in den Genting Highlands ein, eine “Vergnügungsstadt” auf dem Hügel eines Berges mit Vergnügungspark, Casino und vielen Restaurants.
Auf dem Weg nach oben musste wieder die Vollgas-Taktik angewandt werden. Irgendwann wurde dann die Klimaanlage heiß und die Seiten wurden beschlagen. Bei einem Halt am Straßenrand ging dann auf einmal der Motor aus :-(. Mit Mühe und einigen weiteren Zwangsstopps kamen wir dann dort ins erste Parkhaus. Die Temperaturanzeige zeigte dabei 120°, der maximal mögliche Wert, an.
Zuerst ging ich davon aus, dass das mit dem Vollgas fahren zu tun hat und es bis nach unserer Rückkehr von Essen, Geisterhaus und Co. wieder in Ordnung sein sollte. Nach ein paar Minuten zeigte die Temperatur dann auch wieder 60° an, stieg aber beim runter fahren vom Berg, ohne Gas, etc., schnell wieder auf 120° an und die Klimaanlage kühlte das Wageninnere auch nicht mehr :-(.
Bei der ersten Mautstelle und dem ersten Anhalten ging dann auch wieder der Motor aus :-(. Nach einigen Minuten ging es dann wieder weiter, bis zur nächsten Mautstelle :-(. Am Ende sprang der Wagen gar nicht mehr an und ich musste den Notdienst der Autovermietung rufen. Nach 2 Stunden kam dann ein Mitarbeiter mit einem Ersatzwagen. Als er meinen Wagen testete war dann erstmal noch die Batterie leer, vermutlich da wir die ganze Zeit das Radio und Licht des Auto an hatten ;D.
Glücklicherweise ging dann aber nach Wechsel der Batterie das Fahrzeug wegen der Kühlung auch wieder schnell aus. Am Ende konnten wir dann unsere Fahrt mit dem Ersatzwagen, ebenfalls ein Proton Persona, gegen halb 3 nachts fortsetzen :-(. Sollten sie irgendwann wieder anrufen und mir den anderen Wagen geben wollen, werde ich dankend ablehnen ;-).

On Wednesday, I got a call from my car rental company. They wanted to return me the car I crashed 2 months ago as it now got out of the workshop. They couldn’t tell me a reason why as the car I had inbetween was the same model and also the same color.
Friday evening, we drove to a lookout point located over Kuala Lumpur. On the way up there, the car has shown problems with the accelaration/manual transmission. We could just get up with constantly pressing the pedal completly.
Yesterday, planned several activities yesterday and at the end around 300 – 350 kilometers with the car for the day. On the way back, we stopped at Genting Highland, an entertainment city on top of a hill with amusement park, casino and restaurants.
Getting up there only succeeded with using again the full throttle tactic. Shortly before reaching the top, the air condition got quite hot and all windows fogged from inside. When stopping at the side of the road to clear the windows, the engine suddenly died off :-(. After quite some other unplanned stops we reached the first parking lot there with the engine temparature showin 120°, the maximum value on the meter.
I thought (or hoped) it’s just related to using the full throttle and it will be gone after returning from dinner, haunted hause and so on. But after some minutes the temparature again raised to 120° and the air condition didn’t cool down the inner of the car anymore :-(.
After stopping at the first toll plaza, the engine died off again :-(. After waiting some minutes, we continued our way back home, but only till the next toll plaza :-(. At the ende, the car didn’t start anymore at all and I had to call the emergency service of the rental company. After waiting for 2 hours an employee of the car rental company came. When testing the car, he said the battery is nearly empty and that’s the cause of the problem, but that’s most likely related to keeping the radio and lights on while waiting for him ;-).
Luckily, the engine also died off again after changing the battery. At the end, we continued our way with a replacement car, another Proton Persona at around 2 30 am. Should they call me again for switiching the car, I’ld say “Thanks, but I’m not interested in getting the other car back” ;-).
