Vom Flughafen in Newark ging es dann wie gesagt mit dem Zug ins Zentrum von Manhatten zu New York Penn Station.
Unser “Hotel” befand sich ebenfalls sehr zentral, nur wenige Gehminuten vom Bahnhof und vielen Sehenswürdigkeiten entfernt :-).
Zuerst sind wir dann mit unserem Gepäck zum Hotel und haben dabei schon den nur einige Querstraßen entfernten Time Square gesehen, den man aufgrund der vielen hellen und blinkenden Displays, auch kaum übersehen kann ;-).

Im Hotel haben wir dann erst einmal festgestellt, dass das Ganze dann doch eher Jugendherberge als Hotel ist ;-), mit Toiletten und Duschen auf den Fluren und recht kleinen Zimmern. Zusätzlich war es dann auch noch sehr laut. Das Zimmer lag am Eck 2er viel befahrener Straßen (6th Avenue und 38th Street) und die Fenster dort scheinen nicht unbedingt sehr zu isolieren :P.
Wir sind dann auch erst mal wieder in Richtung Time Square um die Gegend zu erkunden und auch nach einem Abendessen zu suchen.
Nebenbei sind wir dann auch noch in einen Supermarkt und haben ein paar Ohrstöpsel gekauft, eine der besten Investitionen dort. Ohne die wäre Schlafen wohl nicht möglich gewesen :P.

Wir sind dann auch die beiden anderen Abende in New York jeweils wieder zum Times Square zurückgekommen, um dort zu Essen und für etwas Musik. Der Platz ist einfach sehr lebhaft und immer von sehr vielen Leuten bevölkert.

From the airport in Newark (which belongs to New Jersey state) we took the air train to New York and exited at Penn Station, located in the center of Manhattan.
Our “hotel” was also located in the city center just some minutes walking distance from the airport and many sights of New York :-).
First, we walked to the hotel with all our luggage and while walking we could already see the Times Square, located some streets away. Because of all the displays and blinking lights you just can’t miss it ;-).

After arriving in the hotel, we realized that it was more a hostel than a hotel ;-), with toilets and showers on the floor and small rooms. In addition, it was so loud inside the room. We had a room at the corner of two big streets (6th Avenue and 38th Street) and so many cars outside but windows with very bad isolation :P.
After dropping our luggage, we went outside and walked with direction of Times Square to discover the area and look for some dinner.
Besides, we also stopped at a supermarket and bought some earplugs. One of the best investments there, without them sleeping would have just been impossible :P.

We also got back to Times Square the other two evenings we spent in New York. Just to catch some food or listen to some music. It’s really a very lively spot and there’re always so many people around.
