Die Religion Islam hat ihren eigenen Kalender mit 12 Monate à 29 oder 30 Tage.
Der 9. Monat ist Ramadan, der islamische Fastenmonat. Abgeschlossen wird der Fastenmonat mit den Hari Raya Feierlichkeiten.
Diese können sich über den kompletten Schawwal erstrecken, den darauf folgenden islamischen Monat.
Dieser Monat endete dieses Jahr am letzten Freitag, den 8. Oktober.

Passend dazu hatte ich dann einen Baju Melayu ins Büro angezogen.
Dieses Mal einen gelb- / golden-farbenen. Diesen hab ich mir nach den Feiertagen gekauft, als diese (ähnlich Sommerschlußverkauf) deutlich reduziert angeboten wurden :-).
Aufgrund dieser Kleidung wurde ich dann gleich von der Abteilung des Kunden, die meine Anwendung nutzt, zu einer Hari Raya Feier am Abend eingeladen.
Teilgenommen haben dabei ein Großteil der Mitarbeiter mitsamt Ehemann/-frau und Kindern. War am Ende ein recht große Gruppe.
Und als Kleiderordnung wurde vom Chef der Abteilung die Festkleidung mit Baju ausgegeben.

Neben dem Essen gab es dann noch eine Verlosung sowie verschiedene Wahlen.
Alle Gäste konnten den Gast mit besten Kostüm, die fröhlichste Familie sowie die beiden Familien, bei denen die Kostüme am besten zusammen passen, wählen.
Die Wahl für das beste Kostüm und der Preis mit 2 Tassen ging dann an mich :P.
Es war wirklich ein netter Abend und toll alle Leute in ihren traditionellen Kleidern zu sehen :-).

In Islam, people are not following only the Gregorian calendar but there’s an Islamic calender with 12 months each 29 or 30 days. All religious events are dated according to the Islamic calendar.
The 9th month in this calendar is Ramadan, the Islamic fasting month. It’s finished with the Hari Raya celebration / Eid Mubarak.
The festivities can take place the whole Shawwal, the following Islamic month.
This month ended this year on last Friday, October 8th.

Matching to the date, I was wearing a Baju Melayu in the office.
This time a yellow / golden colored one. I bought this one shortly after the holidays when they were sold for a cheap price (similar to season sale in Germany) :-).
Due to this attire, I got invited by some people (including the boss) to join the Proton department I’m working for for their Hari Raya celebration this evening.
Most colleagues participated and brought their wifes/husbands and kids as well. So, was quite a large group at the end.
As an attire, the boss gave the rule for the participants to wear the traditional clothes, Baju Raya / Baju Melayu.

After the dinner, a lucky draw and small election took place.
All attendants could vote for the guest with the nicest costume, the most cheerful family and the two families with the best matching costumes.
The vote for the best costume was won by me 😛 and I took home two nice mugs.
I really enjoyed this evening and seeing all the people wearing their traditional costume :-).
