Hier dann mal ein kurzer Beitrag zum Start der Fußball-WM.
Ähnlich wie in Deutschland wird ein Teil der Spiele im Free-TV übertragen, alle Spiele gibt es dann in HD-Qualität nur im Pay-TV.
Dazu sollte man anmerken, dass Free-TV hier 4 Kanäle bedeutet, und so gut wie jeder Haushalt den Pay-TV Kanal Astro abonniert hat.
 
Wer kein Astro hat, kann die Spiele in den meisten Restaurants und Bars anschauen. Selbst McDonalds und Starbucks haben Bildschirme in ihren Filialen aufgehängt um dort die Spiele zu schauen.
Alternativ kann man auch zu einem “Marmak-Store” gehen. Das sind kleine Restaurants mit in der Regel malaysischem oder indischem Essen, die 7 Tage die Woche und 24 Stunden je Tag geöffnet sind.
 
Ein erstes Feedback:

• Eröffnungsspiel Südafrika – Mexiko
  Für dieses Spiel hat mich eine Kollegin von Proton eingeladen, das Spiel bei Ihr zu Hause zusammen mit ihrem Ehemann zu schauen.
  Extra aufgrund meines Besuchs hat sie dann auch ein sehr leckeres Abendessen gekocht :-).
  Das Essen und die Unterhaltung war auch das Beste an dem Abend, da das Spiel dann doch recht mau war.
• Samstag
  Das Südkorea-Spiel hab ich in einem Marmak-Store nahe meines Hauses angeschaut. Das Spiel war ganz ok, zwischen drin musste ich mir nur einen anderen Platz suchen, da es anfing zu regnen und ich vorher im Freien saß :P.
  Das Argentinien-Spiel hab ich dann zu Hause auf der Couch angeschaut. Ein nettes Spiel, wenn auch mein WM-Favorit Argentinien nicht unbedingt überzeugt hat.
• Sonntag
  Das erste Spiel hab ich anfangs in einer Bar angeschaut. Da es aber so schlecht war, bin ich in der 60. Minute gegangen und hab ein Abendessen ohne Fußball vorgezogen :-).
• Deutschland – Australien
  Für das erste Deutschland-Spiel hab ich mir für viertel drei morgens den Wecker gestellt und das Spiel in meiner Wohnung angeschaut.
  Das frühe Aufstehen hat sich aufgrund des guten Spieles und der vielen Tore wirklich gelohnt :-).
  Auch wenn ich jetzt hier im Büro richtig müde bin ;-).

Here a short post about the start of the football world championship in South Africa.
Like in Germany, some of the games are broadcasted in Free-TV. All 64 games are available in HD quality only in Pay-TV.
One additional note: in Malaysia, people only have 4 Free-TV channels and most of the households have a subscription of the Pay-TV channels Astro.
 
People without Astro can watch the games in most of the restaurants and bars. Even McDonalds and Starbucks provide screens for watching the games.
Alternatively, one can go to a so called “Marmak-Store”. These are small restaurant with normally Malay or Indian food, opened 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

• Opening match South Africa – Mexico
  For this match, I got invited by a Proton colleague to watch the game at her house together with her husband.
  Extra for my visit she also cooked a really good dinner :-).
  The food and the conversation with them was also the best of the evening as the game was not that good.
• Saturday
  Watched the South Korea match at Marmak-Store near my house. The game was ok, in the middle I had to change my seat as I was uncovered and it started to rain :P.
  I saw the Argentina game at home on my couch. A nice match even though my favourite for this world championship didn’t really convince me.
• Sunday
  Saw the beginning of the first match in a bar. As it was that bad I left around minute 60 and preferred having dinner without football :-).
  Skipped the second match this day.
• Germany – Australia
  For watching the first German match I set my alarm clock to 2 15 AM and watch it in my apartment.
  The game and all those goals was really worth getting up in the middle of the night :-).
  Though I’m now very sleepy here in the office ;-).
