Mein altes Firmennotebook hat nun nach knapp 3 Jahren so langsam den Geist aufgegeben: Display mit Anzeigefehler, einige Tasten der Tastatur gingen nicht mehr. Außerdem war die Ladeeinheit kaputt, so dass das Notebook nur noch mit Netzteil genutzt werden konnte.
Daher hab ich nun vor knapp 1 1/2 Wochen meine neues Notebook von der Firma bekommen :-). Es hat folgende Ausstattung:

• HP EliteBook 8540w Mobile Workstation
• Intel® Core™ i5-560M Prozessor (2.66 GHz, 3 MB L3 Cache)
• 4 GB RAM, hier muss ich dann meinen Chef noch überzeugen das auf 8 GB aufzurüsten 😉
• ein 15,6″ Breitbilddisplay mit Full HD Auflösung (1920×1080)
• NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M Grafikkarte mit zusätzlich 1 GB Grafikspeicher
• Und auch mit dem ganz neuen USB 3.0

Und mittlerweile hab ich das Notebook dann auch mit der aktuellsten Software ausgerüstet: Windows 7 64-Bit, Office 2010, Visual Studio 2010, Adobe Acrobat 9, Adobe Photoshop CS5, … Zum Glück haben wir bei HP da einen Zugriff auf einen sehr großen Softwarepool :-).
Es hat sich also wirklich gewohnt knapp 3 Wochen auf das Notebook zu warten und auch einem Ausnahmeprozess zu folgen um dieses leistungsstarke Modell zu bekommen, das es aufgrund des Listenpreis von ca. 2500 US-$ dann auch nicht für alle Mitarbeiter gibt ;-).

English – my new laptop
My old company notebook had a lot of issues after using it for 3 years: some display errors, several keys on the keyboard have not been working anymore and as the charging unit was broken as well, the notebook only could be used with power cord attached.
Around 1 1/2 weeks ago I finally got a new notebook from the company :-). It has the following nice components:

• HP EliteBook 8540w Mobile Workstation
• Intel® Core™ i5-560M Processor (2.66 GHz, 3 MB L3 Cache)
• 4 GB RAM, here I need to discuss with my boss to upgrade this to 8 GB 😉
• a 15,6″ wide screen display with Full HD resolution (1920×1080)
• NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M graphic card with 1 GB of dedicated graphics memory
• And it also supports the new USB 3.0 standard

And in the meanwhile I installed all up-to-date software: Windows 7 64-Bit, Office 2010, Visual Studio 2010, Adobe Acrobat 9, Adobe Photoshop CS5, … Luckily, we have a very big software pool at HP :-).
It was really worth waiting around 3 weeks for that notebook. I also had to follow some exception process to get that powerful error as not all employees get that model with a list price of 2500 US-$ ;-).
